Meaning of IAS Exam

The IAS (Indian Administrative Service) Exam is carried out by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission).

IAS Exam Includes 3 Levels;
      1. Preliminary Stage: It is consists of a couple of mandatory subjects of two hundred marks each common to all the applicants.
      2. Main Examination: However, the preliminary is just qualifying anyways and scores obtained in the preliminary level will not be counted in the Mains or for purpose of the final standing.
       
        Various mandatory papers like:
         
      • General Studies (GS): Essay, Indian languages are two additional subjects common to all contenders from more than 26 papers. Overall are 2000 marks. However, you will need to clear the compulsory papers nevertheless.
        3. Next and Final Stage: This is your interview stage, the job interview process usually starts close to final week of March and goes on till the first week of May. The results are then declared 2-3 days prior to the preliminary and it’s involving 300 marks.
    The IAS Exam test is 2300 (2000 marks Mains + 300 marks Interview)

    The Eligibility Criteria of Indian Administrative Exam is:
    • Only Graduate Certificate
    • College or University Recognized under the UCG Act
    • Minimum age of 21 years together with 31 years as the higher age limit.
